Another lost shop?

Just noticed the sign of doom (Martin-brown) above the pet shop in the High Street. Another one going? Incidentally, someone mentioned on here that Hi-Life was closing because they saw a sign above it. It looks to me as though the sign relates to the unit next door. Or am I wrong?

  1. Muddy Paws a few months ago was having some dispute with the landlord over the very high rent on the shop premises. I can only assume that they fell out with the landlord over the issue of rent and have decided to call it a day! They do however have a website - www.mpaws.co.uk

As for Hi-Life, the shop is definitely up for rent through Huggins Edwards and Sharp, look under commercial properties then shop premises in Dorking.

Onto some positive news and it looks like Harmans is re-appearing once again as an antique shop down in West Street. There is also another antiques shop opening on the other side of the road after an extensive refurb for the shop and I have heard a very upmarket English restaurant is opening up in South Street where the Pizza Piazza restaurant used to be. It is going to be adjacent to The Cricketers and its opening is subject to Mole Valley Licencing approval.

  2. I think the Martin-Brown sign near High Life relates to the dentist shop next door

  3. Much more shops to close in Dorking in the next quarter and town centre management are not that bothered. What a shame...as Dorking has become the laughing stock of Surrey...no other town in the county has more empty retail units and unfortunately nobody is remotedly interested in the large empty Woolworths unit!
