Cllr Chris Hunt has organised a drop-in event to take place 3pm - 8pm on Thurs 4th March, 9am - 4pm on 5th March and Saturday 6th March. It is to be held at 25 St Martin's Walk.
They are encouraging comment and ideas for the future of our town.
I would urge as many people as possible to visit and give views and comments. This is the ideal opportunity for all critics of the town who post things on this blog to have their ideas heard, and we must not allow the council to claim that nobody turned up to this!
Anyone going to go?

Absolutely; have been wondering when Chris Hunt may be attending to time my visit accordingly! Might as well ask him I suppose! Have you seen Andrew Bridge's (whom I don't know)letter in last week's 'Ad' which to me seems full of common sense ideas - OK, mostly the same as we've been expressing on here. We're still waiting to be told why they won't work, if that's what Councillors/Planners feel.
ReplyDeleteYes please let's take this chance to go along to show what the clear majority, informed assessment of what's needed is.
There has been over the last few weeks several public meetings organised by MVDC.
ReplyDeleteI personly attended only one after I was emailed the day before that it was going to take place.
It is very strange that only a very few people know about these meetings.
I thought that public meetings had to be advertised well in advance.
Like the one advised on here which is starting off a new blog by whom was registered as it bears no name at all.
It is very IMPORTANT that as many members of the community and businesses owners go to these meetings to voice your views, else these people who have no knowledge of how business works and what it needs make decisions that will destroy Dorking town for ever.

We've got to try and make sure that it's not just another 'talk-shop' by getting our comments in to MVDC 'ldf'.
ReplyDeleteHaving spoken to three different 'Planners' it's clear that they know what is required to revitalise the centre (i.e. agree with most of us on here) but unfortunately they can't force Councillors to be rational. If Cllrs allow matters, like wanting to sell off land to balance the books in these stringent times, to supercede the long term (not to mention short-term needs of the town) idiotic decisions may still be made.
Had a long conversation with Cllr Hunt (i/c Planning) and was encouraged by his apparent willingness to think 'out of the political box'. But when those cliques of Councillors get together and persuade themselves that they know better than the Planners, who're so well versed in examples from across the country (not that anyone needs to look far away) what chance the right decisions? Hopefully the essential points can be hammered home during this consultation period.
