restarants in Dorking

Hi guys,
I'm a regular reader and occasional contributor to Cockerel's blog. Am I the first to start a topic on Dougie's blog? V excited!!
Anyway, I'm from Dorking and just started going out with a girl fromout ofn town. Want to impress her by taking her for a nice meal. Someone said twotwofour was good but expensive.
Any thoughts? is it good or is there somewhere less expensive? I'm a student by the way
Alex

  1. Looks like it will have to be a bargain bucket from KFC.

  3. Hi, I review restaurants in and around Dorking...when I have the time...at "Dorking, Food and Photographs": www.ting-a-ling.co.uk

Two to Four is excellent but a bit expensive EXCEPT on weekday lunchtimes when you can get a fantastic 2-course for something like £12

  4. Alex,

Sang Thai (eastern end of High Street) - Excellent value for money, food top notch and the service is amazing.
Dorking Brassarie (Junction Road) - Again excellent value for money, good food and the staff go out of their way to make your night memorable.
The Fountain Garden (West Street) - A little pricey for a Chinese but it is well worth it! Food is very, very good.
Viva (West Street) - A very reasonably priced Italian restaurant. Very family orientated and pizzas and pastas are superb value for money.
Cafe Rialto (South Street) - Another superb Italian, has special meal deals up until 7pm and service is very good.
Chifan (High Street, adjacent to Dorking Halls)- Food is good and the interior of the restaurant is breathtaking. Good value for money.

Also some of the 'chain' restaurants are not too bad either like Pizza Express and Cafe Rouge on the High Street.

Also heard that ASK are very interested in opening up in the former Harley Davidson premises (285-293 High Street). A planning application was put in a few weeks ago.

  5. Would not bother going to Dorking to eat as it is a complete waste of time! Would suggest that you either go to Reigate or head to Guildford for a night on the town. Dorking is full of over hyped restaurants which are very expensive and offer very little in terms of atmosphere and ambience. Reigate Ron.
