MVDC and lost level playing field

The Dorking Advertiser devotes two pages to the good news that Leatherhead is to receive some £300,000 to improve Leatherhead's High Street and Church Street, this will be a combination of MVDC money and a grant from SCC. A further £50,000 will be made available for street art, e.g. perhaps a swan sculpture or a memorial to one of the the town's more famous people.

Nobody could wish Leatherhead anything but well and they are certainly very fortunate to have benefited from MVDC's act of largesse; curious is it not that the same council could not afford £6,000 for Dorking's floral decorations this summer and has had to impose a flat £1 charge to park in certain Dorking car parks in the evening - because of financial restraints of course.

It would seem MVDC is not aware of the need for there to be level playing fields.

Forget being born with a silver spoon in your mouth, far better to have been born in the north of our district.

  1. I have today read the report in the Dorking Advetiser about yet more money being poured in to Leatherhead to the detriment of Dorking.
So Councillor Chris Hunt thinks its a good idea to waste yet more money.
How many more times is MVDC AND SCC going to correct the terrible mistakes they made in the past and use monies which should be used in Dorking town centre.
Several years ago{between 6/9years)I presented to MVDC a full set of pictures of the poor repair of all the pavements, signposts and the streetscene of Dorking.
It is now time that MVDC was held to account by the people of Dorking and where told how this council has wasted our money ie like £250000.00 on refitting the entrance to Pippbrook council offices.
This money could have been better spent on the town which generates taxes to fund there crazy ideas.
Chris Hunt if a public meeting was arranged would you attend and explain to us all how come so much money is being wasted by MVDC

  2. Excellent idea, Mr Hunt works in Dorking so it shouldn't be very difficult for him to attend and it's certainly high time he and his colleagues explained what seems to be a love affair with Leatherhead.

  3. Absolutely Chaps. There have been so many issues and resultant actions which smack of ineptitude that it can't be seen as simply trouble-making to insist on answers being given. One never sees justifications for decisions in any media, even MVDC's own organs, so it is utterly beholden of Chris Hunt & Co to use the suggested means to explain themselves.

    ( Now I can see that C.a.d = Pepin!)
